Wolf Gang - Lions in Cages

It’s been a year since we heard Wolf Gang’s last single The King And All Of His Men.

Wolf Gang is 23 year-old singer Max McElligott, a part Irish, part German drop out from the London School Of Economics who fell in love with music and out of love with studies. Never being one to take to a scene, Max always looked to heritage records, citing bands like the Talking Heads, Bowie and Roxy Music as influences to his evolving sound.

He entered the music scene about two years ago with a ranging style and a knack for multiple instruments out of his bedroom, and now he is working with Dave Fridmann – known for his work with The Flamming Lips, Weezer and MGMT.

Fridmann produced Lions in Cages and it's Wolf Gang’s first single (out on November 22th) off his debut album, which will be released by Atlantic in early 2011.

Gauntlet Hair - Out, Don't ...

Gauntlet Hair is the project of Andy R. and Craig Nice, who began making music together when they were 15. The band name makes you believe that these guys would be a tortuous punk band, but they're actually a rather cheerful psych-pop group with an interesting take on the ever-so-popular melodic shouting.

I Was Thinking, the duos self-released album that came out earlier this year, is full in assortment of hyper-rhythmic guitar scratching and eruptive hooks that is pleasing to the ears and makes you wanna dance

Twin Shadow - Slow

Twin Shadow is the moniker used by twentysomething George Lewis Jr., born in the Dominican Republic, raised in rural Florida and worked as a composer for a touring dance company before settling down in New York City recording debut album Forget in 2010. The band name refers to his close relationship with this twin sister.

As Twin Shadow, Lewis authors a kind of retro, electro-tinged soul-balladry; big songs with big choruses, synths, echo and drama. He recorded Forget primarily by himself in apartments and sometimes even hotel rooms.

Forget may be sweetly romantic and spare, but Twin Shadow's touring life is anything but. Lewis describes "living the dream" of a rock and roller on a recent swing through California, which included getting kicked out of hotel pools, being plied with drugs by "creepy" fans and waking up in the middle of a festival after devouring pot brownies and passing out in a park.

The video of Slow is a clever parody of porn casting couch sessions, with Lewis getting complimented on his “big talent” at the end.

TEETH - See Spaces

Teeth – or, as they're variously known, TEETH!!!, T3ETH, and T∑∑TH – formed in 2008 when the fashion communications student and the Prolapse member drafted in the Graphic Design graduate (they make their own videos and fanzines). The band has received a great deal of blog attention, based only on live performances and a few tracks on their Myspace page.

The London trio released their debut single, See Spaces in August. The track is a harmonious blend of drums that seem to drag one beat behind the tune, a four-note keyboard pattern that sounds like a rave riff at half speed, and vocals, which appear to have not so much sung as yawned. It's spacey and shimmery synth-punk in slow motion.

Young Empires - Glory Of The Night

Young Empires are Robert Aaron Ellingson, Jake Palahnuk and Matthew Vlahovich out of Toronto. The electronic/world beat trio formed in October 2009.

Self-described as World Beat meets Haute Rock, Young Empires deliver fresh yet distinguished dance tracks that make you want to strut.

Since inception, the band has had the blogosphere in a spin, being diagnosed as an early Yeasayer, Foals or The Rapture. Their home demo Rain of Gold hit #13 on Hype Machine’s charts garnering the trio international attention and spawning a select run of international shows.

There are currently only demo versions in their repertoire. However, their debut EP is already in the works.
